Viewing prior to purchase
Should I allow a potential buyer to view an item (bicycle) before deciding to purchase? It seems fair enough, but would I be able to put my address in the chat?

Mentor9 months agoNo, it is no longer allowed to offer inspection before bidding.
eBay scans all messages and any attempt to include contact details will be blocked. You would receive at least a warning and potentially suspension of your account.
This policy was introduced to prevent buyers and sellers using an inspection visit to make a private sale. This is fee evasion (where fees apply) and also leaves the buyer without the protectionof eBay's money back guarantee.
The buyer now has to win and pay for the item through eBay checkout before a collection address can be provided. If the buyer is unhappy with the item both parties can agree a cancellation, which is then processed through eBay and the buyer's payment returned.

Mentor9 months agoebay block messages containing personal details prior to online payment. The alternative is for the buyer to buy the item and if they don't like it after viewing you can cancel the transaction.
