VAT in postage
I have just recently bought some items from a private seller, in the uk and so am I . I didn’t realise until I checked my order that I have been charged £1.18 vat. I have been buying on eBay for years and this has never happened before. The help centre tell me vat is charged on shipping costs??? So not only do you have to pay protection fee on purchases you get charged vat on postage as well. Am I going mad? Can somebody confirm?

Mentor2 months agoCorrect, postage is only VAT free when bought from RM or the Post Office, buying from Ebay and VAT applies.
