Using a discount code on an item I made an offer on?

Hi and thanks in advance for any help. I have a discount code that takes 20% off a purchase if I enter it at checkout. Does anyone know if I can make an offer for an item that is listed as 'best offer' and then, if the offer is accepted, can I use the code at checkout or will it just automatically take the payment when the offer is accepted without giving me the chance to use the code? The terms and conditions say it the code cannot be used with any other offers but I take that to mean other offers from EBay etc rather than an offer I am making on a 'best price' bid? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
