Unknown Direct Debit from my bank account
Hi
I recently purchased something, which I immediately return. The cost was taken from my credit card and the seller refunded this almost immediately. However, a DD amount has appeared on my bank account. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen?

Mentor2 weeks agoThe DD has nothing to do with the refund for your purchase. As said, it's a seller thing.

OP2 weeks agoThanks everyone, but I did have funds in my ebay account, and the buyer was fully refunded from there. The ebay payment is a mystery

Mentor2 weeks agoThis is not related to buying.
When you start to sell, you add your bank account to ebay.
They
set up DD to claim any fees and refund buyers if required.
You have negative feedback for not completing a sold an item, so buyer gets refund.

OP2 weeks agoThank you for responding, but I've already fully refund the buyer. I'd accidentally listed the item as having delivery and immediately contacted the buyer many times to explain this, they didn't respond, I refunded them in full which also included fees, (and spending a long time on ebay's hopeless support trying to unravel this) so it seems I've been charged twice?

Mentor2 weeks agoIf there no funds in your ebay to do refund, ebay use DD to pay buyer, then their payment clears after.
So I doubt you paid twice.
Going back to your question, this is why DD is set up.
