Unknowingly bought stolen goods
I bought some survey equipment from a seller on Ebay. When I sent it to be serviced, I was told it was stolen property. It was collected by the servicer to be returned to the rightful owner. I then tried messaging the seller through Ebay , leaving messages on the only phone number for them and writing a letter......I heard nothing. They are still trading as a limited company on Ebay and still advertising lots of items. They possibly didn't even know they were stolen. Ebay said they could only take action (ie give me a refund) if there was a case open
I can't open a case without getting hold of the seller. It was reported to West Yorkshire police and has a crime number and it is an unclosed case. What can I do next???

Mentor6 months agoI don't think ebay will help here even if you are within 30 days of delivery.
You could try a claim through your funding source, as long as that wasn't PayPal.

OP6 months agoThanks for that. I'll see what I can do. I just thought they could help me by getting hold of the seller and opening a case. Otherwise it's goodbye to £4500!
