Unfair restrictions
Sellers be wary.
EBay have restricted my account as I need to upgrade to a business account. All my listings have been removed and I am now losing sales and money.
The problem is I can’t upgrade to a business account as eBay has a system error which won’t allow me to verify my bank details.
EBay are refusing to lift restrictions and restore my listings even though it is their fault I can’t upgrade.

Mentor3 months agoBank account needs to be in exactly the same name as ebay account. I presume you have been able to withdraw funds as a private seller, would it not be possible to open a new Business Account using the same name as your Business Bank account.

Mentor3 months agoYou should have had a Business account ages ago --- No guarantee but --- see if you can update your account settings using a PC/Laptop and these links --- need a Selling account and Banking details on file in order to send, receive and request payments >

OP3 months agoThere is a glitch in their system which is not allowing bank details to be added and confirmed to upgrade. This has been confirmed by eBay and I am not the only one affected by this. I have been trying to upgrade but to no avail.

Mentor3 months agoNot much you can do if eBay won't lift the restriction, sounds like the ball is firmly in their court, only eBay can lift restrictions.
HMRC may be your next problem though. eBay provide details of sales to them and its vital that you keep accounts because they'll likely be in touch at some point. Trading as a private seller means that you can't offset business fees too, which is a shame. I know it's probably too late to action this advice, but I'd always have a business account for items you buy to resell and a private account for selling off your own personal bits and pieces.
