unexpected need to dispatch via locker rather than P.O.
As a private seller I thought I had adapted to successfully using Simple Delivery. I thought I had specified my preferred dispatch method as Royal Mail. But when my partner presented three parcels at the Post Office and their labels to scan it turns out one was for a different method requiring it being put into a locker. He tried but couldn’t understand the process and the locker for small parcels, which this is, was showing as full and so the parcel has not been sent. Please can anyone help with advice on the following:
How can I determine how this particular item (08-14225-69500 ) ended up being available for this posting option apparently chosen by the buyer? Was it a mistake made by me in the listing or relisting? Has ebay maybe changed something as it sometimes seems to do when relisting takes place (sometimes dispatch times are changed). Is it possible to ensure that Royal Mail is the only accepted carrier?
Given that I have now this situation to deal with, and needing as a disabled person to ask someone else to take parcels to dispatch on my behalf, what do I need to tell them to do? We do not want to have to install any apps. From the brief research I have had chance to do I can see a list of lockers and shops near to me. Do the shops have a person who takes the parcel in person rather than needing to operate one of these lockers? And are you allowed to put a small parcel into a large parcel locker if it has space and the small one is full. Us not being able to dispatch this little parcel today has caused a waste of time and effort for us as elderly and disabled people.

Personally I would message the buyer about the problem. If they agree you can cancel the transaction with their agreement (via the dropdown menu arrow for the item on your orders list), opt out of Inpost and relist for them to buy and pay again.
If they don't agree or don't reply I would cancel using the reason "problem with buyer's address" and leave it at that. If you do that put their ID on your blocked bidder list:

I'm just thankful that the sneaky change ebay made to expand my post preferences didn't compromise any more items. It could have been a nightmare.

Mentor6 months agoThe problem with using lockers is that you don't know if there is any space until you get there.
I've known people having to go to several locations until they find an empty one.

OP6 months agoAlso, we realised today that the parcel had no label ( usually supplied at the Post Office). Do lockers issue labels to stick on?

Mentor6 months agoIf you use parcel locker, you need to print addresses postage label at home.
How else will carrier know where to deliver it.

Mentor6 months agoI can't see why you think it is more expensive for sellers.
It only costs maybe 1p to print label.
Before carriers had printers in store, we all had to print them at home or write it out.

OP6 months agoI find that very unlikely, and then the time taken to attach securely with tape. Compared to free! Seems like a no brainer.
