Unable to return item for a refund

I bought a blu-ray set off of a seller. Everything seemed fine until the item arrived and I had been sent a dvd set for a different show (and in very poor condition) tried contacting the seller who didn't reply so I put in a refund request. The seller accepted the refund request but didn't issue a return shipping label. I contacted eBay who told me that if it wasn't issued by the 13th then they would act.
So, this is where it gets complicated. On the 13th I was busy as I was travelling abroad. Still no return label so nothing I could do with the item. On the 14th I go to contact eBay and find that a shipping label had been issued that morning and I now had 14 days to return the item. Except I'm not back in the UK until the end of the month. I have tried speaking to eBay several times now but all they have said is that I should speak to the seller. I have sent messages to the seller but still no reply so I ap pretty sure the whole thing was an intentional scam at this point.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do about this or who I can contact? eBay customer service have been completely useless.

Mentor2 weeks agoSuggest seeing if your payment provider can help. Unless you used Paypal, who like ebay only do 30 days.

Mentor2 weeks agoSorry, but ebay time lines are fixed, if you can't return in time, they won't help.
You could try contacting seller and ask if they will still refund late return, but you are relying on their honesty.

OP2 weeks agoYeah, I've messaged them and they just don't reply. I really feel like I have fallen into a scam here and there is nothing I can do about it.

Had you returned item within 30 days under ebay MBG, you are guaranteed a refund.
As advised by @john1297576 Try your payment provider, you may have to pay return tracked postage, worth asking.
