Unable to contact seller - possible scam?
Summary: macmuffin0_1 reported issues with a portable air conditioner purchase on eBay, expressing frustration over a delayed delivery and inability to contact the seller. tressygirl suggested waiting until after the last estimated delivery date to open a claim for a non-received item and escalate it for a refund if necessary. ile136yz noted that dispatch times could affect delivery estimates, but macmuffin0_1 emphasized that the listing promised quick dispatch. john1297576 recommended opening a case if the item isn't delivered by the estimated date to secure a refund.
I recently bought a portable air conditioner (in the UK) with next day delivery advertised. The tracking shows that a UPS label has been created but that the item has not yet been received by UPS. I have tried to use the 'Contact Seller' option on eBay, but although a window comes up I am unable to type into it. Unfortunately I have, very reluctantly, paid a premium price for this since my wife is not well and is suffering really badly in the heat. My concern is not being able to contact the seller and the usual eBay 'it may still be on its way' message advising me to wait. Are there any other options?

Mentor1 month agoIf past estimated delivery date, open a Not received case to get a refund.
That is the best you can do, you cannot make a poor seller deliver your purchase.
It can hardly be called a scam, when you can get a full refund.

OP1 month agoThanks John, point taken, especially now I understand a bit more about being able to get a refund. Still rather frustrating though since I don't have the unit, I'm not sure whether it will still arrive or not nor how long it may take to get a refund if it doesn'tshow up. I'm retired now and won't be able to afford another one until I get a refund and I just feel like I've let my wife down with such a possibly impetuous attempted purchase. And now I've sounded off on here with my tale of woe; sorry everyone 😐

Mentor1 month agoHi,
The seller's dispatch time has to be added into the estimated delivery time.

OP1 month agoYeah, I get that, but the listing said same day despatch for next day delivery, and I placed the order quite early in the day.

Mentor1 month agoThere is no other way I'm afraid, some sellers are just bad communicators, or just take their time to answer.
Do not take too much notice of the tracking shown on eBay as to where exactly your item is sitting, eBay is notoriously slow to update that information.
However, you say ' recently' bought? When exactly, if you paid for next day delivery, how long exactly have you waited?

OP1 month agoOnly 3 days so far, but I'm concerned that the courier hasn't received the item yet and the lack of ability to contact the seller.

Mentor1 month agoI do understand the issue and the obvious frustration as this item is desperately needed.
Nothing to force any reply from the seller, but be assured if a reasonable time passes the item's last estimated date for delivery, open a case for item not received, escalate on day 4 , ask eBay to step in, for a full refund.
Listen to no excuses from the seller that the item is on its way, don't close the case early, an other cannot be opened, and do not forget to escalate.
