UK bid blocked where seller has said might not ship to UK
I live in UK and often bid for items overseas, such as US and mainland Europe. If the seller has said may not ship to the UK I always approach them and get their permission to bid before I bid. I did in this case for an item in France, but my last minute bid was blocked by ebay, so I lost the item even though the result meant I would have won it. This has never happened to me before, so is this a change of ebay practice? How can I best get round it? If it has to be by the seller opening the auction to worldwide bids they might get many unwelcome ones, so is there a better way that works for them as well as me? I tried to get an answer from ebay website but failed and their automatic assistant was zero help

Mentor11 months agoDid this seller in France state they post to the UK ? If they already had bids on their item, but did not have UK as a country they post to, and you then asked if you could bid and buy no matter if they said yes at that point, they could not change their site preferences with bids on their auction item, to allow an overseas buyer.
