This new sizing issue has me stumped
Summary: brenata-uk received an email from eBay about a listing violating a new sizing policy because a men's shirt was listed with a collar size 17" instead of S, M, or L. brenata-uk explained the necessity of collar sizing for formal shirts but had to change it to "Large" in the title while keeping the collar size in the description. tobiasd4 and tressygirl offered suggestions and confirmed that others are experiencing the same issue due to eBay's new sizing chart. *vyolla* mentioned ongoing discussions among sellers about these size requirements on eBay.
I got an email from Ebay today saying that one of my listings has violated some sizing policy issue ... the item they are referring to is a new men's shirt because it has the collar size of 17" and isn't listed as S, M or L. It's actually been up for sale for months now so am assuming this sizing policy is a new thing?
I've written to them explaining that formal men's shirts are sized by the collar and if it isn't listed it either won't sell or I will constantly be asked what the collar size is ...... I've no idea what other sizing I could attribute to this shirt and it wouldn't be accurate either. The ad actually shows the number 17 on the collar.
Has anyone else had an email about this sort of thing?

Mentor1 month ago · EditedLots of sellers are discussing this new policy, here's a link to the latest discussion about it on the Business Seller Board:

If you type 'clothing' into a community search it'll bring up the rest, most are on Seller Central.

Mentor1 month agoI have seen another similar question,
but don't know the reason, probably ebays latest glitch.

OP1 month agoDon't think it's a glitch, it's a new sizing policy as I've seen other threads complaining about it, I appealed but they're having none of it so had to change the shirt size to Large and wrote the collar size in the description so now anyone searching for a size 17" collar shirt won't find it from the title .. unless the search engine picks it out from the description field. It really is stupid ....

Mentor1 month agoHi Brenata!
It is the new sizing chart which many are finding a pain !
eBay say the first 4 words in a title are the most important. Perhaps adjust your title, and maybe this would work.....
Men's Nigel Hall Cotton Shirt Size Large Collar 17
Perhaps leave out the " / inches ? See if it accepts that?
The description of the pattern and ' New' is shown elsewhere in the listing, could be left out of the title.

OP1 month agoHi Tressygirl - I appealed, explaining that the collar size is important but got an email basically repeating what they said the first time, I ended up removing the 17 and replacing with 'Large' but left the 17" collar in the description bit lower down. I wonder if it was the " that caused the problem because I think it would have accepted the numbers - they accepted the revision (without 17) so bit worried if go change it now they will only remove it again. It's been up for ages anyway with no watchers.

Mentor1 month agoPerhaps wise, and as you say, to leave that particular item, but if you list another man's shirt, see if that form of title works.
You're not alone in not ' loving' this change!

OP1 month agoyeah will remember that for future use .... I've no idea why they thought to dabble with this, if it 'aint broke ..... I think Vinted did something similar and it caused chaos, mind you .. we are talking about Vinted ...
