The stupidity of the delivery auto address that prevents the actual address being filled in! Resulted in cancelled purchase by seller!
Summary: whirlybird2008 expressed frustration with an automated address system while trying to purchase an item. The system failed to recognize the full address, leading to a canceled sale when the seller was informed. Attempts to modify the address were hindered by additional requirements, such as including a personal phone number. Other participants suggested ways to work around the limitations, like spreading the address over multiple lines or adjusting the format to meet character limits. whirlybird2008 emphasized that the issue was with the system, not their input.
No matter how many times we try to adjust our buyers address the automated address system informs it is not recognised. Example:
We purchased an item but the label address for the seller gives 21 instead of Flat 21, it also does not recognise the tower block or that it needs to
be postage c/o concierge for when we are not in. We informed the seller that it needed to be flat 21 not just 21 and the idiot cancelled the sale.
When we came to manipulate the address to show flat 21, the address label did not correspond to what we had been written, Ebay also now
wanted our personal telephone number to be included in the address. Are they stupid or something, personal details on the outside of the parcel
with our address.
Someone needs to wake up, allow clients to write OUR real address and not fit in with their stupid auto. system. It has put us off using Ebay, all this nonsense
in trying to get one purchase. They can stuff it, we cannot compete with stupid, they will just bring us down to their level and win outright.
Not even a direct customer service to help without going round in circles with their incompetent interface design. Bunch of amateurs!

Mentor2 weeks agoTry leaving out county if address is too long.
It is not necessary, as long as you have postcode

Mentor2 weeks agoThere's an intermittent bug to do with addresses.
eBay say a delivery address must not exceed 39 characters including spaces on any line. Even if your address doesn't exceed that try shifting the format around, such as moving just the road name to the second line, then save as a "new address".
See if the above works, and use a laptop to do this not the app or mobile browser.

Mentor2 weeks agoIt is buyers responsibility too to ensure their addresses are correct so that when labels are generated the correct address appears.

Mentor2 weeks agoIt sounds as though you have more details to go in address than there is provision for, but without knowing all the details can only suggest spreading address over as many lines as possible.
