Take My money and run
Summary: bill.b007 expressed frustration after ordering a bread machine from a seller who later claimed it was damaged and refused to send it, further complicating matters by not issuing a refund promptly. Despite initial concerns of being scammed, they later received a refund but experienced poor communication from the vendor. **peaseblossom** and john1297576 provided advice on the refund process through eBay, suggesting initiating a case after the expected delivery date, but bill.b007 was dissatisfied with the necessity of these steps.
Ordered a bread machine 2 days ago, money was taken from my card order was confirmed, next day got a letter claiming they had looked at the item and it was damaged so they wont send it out and asked if I want a refund.
Now they are totally ignoring me and have not refunded anything, EBay customer service "Robots" are a complete joke.
So I have been scammed and nothing more I can do, I will obviously get onto paypal but even that is a long time to get money back,
This will be the last time I use ebay methinks

Mentor3 weeks agoIf you open case as suggested, seller has 3 days to refund otherwise on day 4 you escalate.
Seller is no doubt waiting for this as to refund now he would get a defect for the reason for not honouring the sale.

Mentor3 weeks agoYou will get your money back from ebay but not if you open a case with Paypal first. When the last estimated delivery date has passed open a "not received" case via the dropdown menu arrow for the item on your purchase history page. Then escalate it after 3 complete working days.

OP3 weeks agoI should not have to do that, the vendor already said he was not sending it out so he will have my money while I wait??? (it has been refunded now but I never got any message from the vendor)

Buying from unknown sellers online is incredibly risky. When I joined (20 to 30 years ago?) there was almost no buyer protection for most purchases.
Since then eBay has developed a money back guarantee that is so strong that it's actually unfair on many sellers. It's almost impossible for a buyer to lose, if they follow the procedure correctly. But this does necessitate some basic rules, like waiting until the stated delivery date has passed and allowing the seller reasonable time to respond to the case.
The person who could and should have refunded you immediately was the seller who refused to send it to you. eBay is your fallback protection and you should appreciate it. Yes, there are procedures to follow, but there always are when you file a complaint to any organisation.
