suspicious seller behaviour?
Summary: mrfrye1988 expressed concern about a pre-ordered item that appeared to have been sent but was told by the seller it hadn't yet been dispatched. tobiasd4 advised on the correct time frame for opening an 'item not received' case, highlighting potential delaying tactics by sellers. mrfrye1988 questioned the authenticity of the tracking information, and papso22 confirmed it couldn't be verified at that stage, warning about false delivery claims affecting refund opportunities.
hi, i purchased a pre-order item on 23rd of August, the item is released today. i got in contact with the seller as I had a concern about the item that was due to be sent to him (then sent to me) because I have seen online people have been receiving incorrect items. I have messaged the seller to see if he checked the item before posting it to me earlier this morning. now on the listing there is a tracking no. and even says posted at the Kilburn post office at 11.29am this morning. when I received a message back from the seller they've told me that they've not yet sent it and it'll be posted in the morning and his order is correct. now i know when generating a postage label it does notify the buyer but saying its been posted at a certain post office seems strange if he hasn't actually posted it. is it just me or is this odd?

Mentor1 month agoPre orders have to sent within 40 days of listing.
You can open item not received case 1 day after estimated delivery date.
Do not let seller delay you opening case, escalate on day 4 if no item.

OP1 month agook says between 17th and 22nd Sept. so anytime after then? but before the 28th which is 40 days? I found it odd how it said accepted at specific parcel shop but I'm told its not been sent yet

Mentor1 month agoSome pre order sellers will send a letter within 40 days to say item on way.
This is a delaying tactic.
If unsure if this happens or proper item not arrived in time, cone back for advice.

OP1 month agois there a way to tell if they've used an ebay generated pre paid label? I've read theres a possibility of people using fake generated tracking numbers

Mentor1 month ago · EditedIf the seller used Simple delivery then they can't add any other tracking, otherwise there is no way to tell that at this stage.

OP1 month agoI did get on chat last night and asked if the seller used ebays generated label, i was told they were, so that should be ok? again, I find it odd how its been received at a parcel shop and yet he's still to dispatch it

Mentor1 month agoStop worrying and wait and see what happens. Make sure you understand how the money back guarantee works.

Mentor1 month agoIt's not just a delaying tactic, it creates a false delivery for the purposes of an INR claim. Some buyers will be confused and lose any chance of a refund by running out of time for an item not as described case.
