Suspected fraudulent seller of GPU
Summary: vaz_geraldes shared their concern about purchasing a GPU on eBay from a seller who used misleading images and mismatched shipping details. They received no responses from the seller, whose account was later suspended. tommystrezures advised opening a case with eBay for an item not as described. vaz_geraldes plans to wait for the delivery before taking further action, fearing fraud. They also questioned the legitimacy of another suspicious listing by the same seller.
Hi folks,
A couple of days ago I purchased a GPU in ebay , soon after the purchase the seller has stopped replying to my questions what left me uneasy and made me look deeper into the matter.
I have since found out that the seller has used pictures from a facebook marketplace item located in a different part of the country from where he listed the item in ebay, and shipped the item from a totally different city from the previous locations. I know people move around but this doesn’t look right.
He also lists the GPU as "Opened – never used" but the serial number of the GPU indicates manufacture in early 2024.
The seller has sold the item one week earlier but the sale did not go through, the seller said because of a time waster.
I hope I am wrong but I am feeling uneasy with the whole situation and I am unsure how to proceed.
I welcome the advise.
Thank you.

Mentor3 weeks agoRead the ebay money back gaurantee.
IF you are unhappy whatsoever with the item and its not as described against the original listing then you need to open an item not as described. You must do this within 30 days of the last date on the EDD from eBay. Ebay will then send you a label to return the item at the sellers cost, before refunding you.

OP3 weeks ago · EditedThanks for replying, since my post I have just seen the message on the my chat with the seller:
"This user cannot receive messages because their account has been suspended or terminated. Please use caution before taking further action."
Not good...

Mentor3 weeks agoOk if you can't open the case as this sounds as though you are not either going to recceive your item or it will be different.
Other sellers must have complained in the background and eBay have now taken action against the seller.
Wait til the last EDD date and open a case, now if you can't do this the link I am giving you, will get you a call back from customer services, it only works on phones though. Get a call back talk to CS and hopefully they willl resolve matters for you.

OP3 weeks ago · EditedHi Tommy,
Yes I am thinking the same, seems that the seller was fraudulent from the start.
I cannot open a case as the item seems to have shipped. I will wait for the box of rocks to arrive on the mail (I hope its just rocks) or wait 7 days to raise a case and report the case to the police.
Thank you
PS: I could not see the phone call on your link.

OP3 weeks ago · EditedI suspect that the item below may also be dubious as the seller stopped talking to me as soon as I told him that I would like to pick the item up in person since I live in the same city.
Is there a way to alert ebay?
