Strange content
Summary: oneblankcard noticed a strange new heading on their shop front, showing their own listings as "Curated finds," and encountered a mix of characters when attempting to copy and paste it. fargvs pointed out it appeared to be in Japanese, and *vyolla* explained that pasting an eBay banner could result in such code. Despite discussing with customer service and sharing their situation, oneblankcard is more concerned about why their listings are suggested to them. *vyolla* advised that the mix of characters might be a corrupted text or code, suggesting clearing cookies and logging in again.
As I opened my shop front page this morning there was a heading I hadn't seen before "Curated finds for you - Explore product recommendations inspired by your shopping trends."
followed by a row of my very own listings.
That's a bit daft I thought. So I highlighted the print and was going to ask customer service/technical or anyone why???
I right clicked and copied, pasted it into the chat box and:-

Mentor1 month agoThat isn’t a single identifiable language. It’s a mixture of characters from many different languages - Japanese, Korean, Thai, Arabic to name but a few. Could be corrupted text or a unicode test string. Log out, clear eBay cookies and then log in again, is it still there?

OP1 month agoI have had a conversation with customer help and the issue is going to the tech team. I also right clicked and copied into a word document and the same happened. I just copied the words "Curated for you recommendations inspired by your shopping trends" but all my own listings were shown to me!

Mentor1 month agoDid you copy an eBay banner containing that message and then paste it into Word? If so, it will paste as code.

That's why your copy and paste is showing as weird code though. If you wanted to show that message to eBay you'd need to screenshot it, not C&P it into Word.

OP1 month ago · EditedI did Like I said it's not the language but more about the content I am being shown as a suggestion for me to buy - which are all my own listings!! Very annoying as it's the first thing at the top of my Shop Home page and is as much help as a chocolate fire guard.
