Sold as spares repairs now wants refund as item not working
Hi i sold an item as spares repairs not tested now the buyer has contacted ebay for a refund saying the item does not work. Also he is stating that a game disc which is shown in the photo but not listed in the items he was getting was missing. I definately put the disc in. I have offered to get him a replacement disc which he agreed to but now wants a refund. Why should i refund when item was sold as spares repairs

Mentor5 months agoIf this is the games joystick there's no point in disputing it. Regardless of how you described it, you stated that the sale included 88 games. If the buyer says that these were not included eBay will take their word against yours. You would be required to refund them, and be penalised with a defect on your account. Forget it and just agree to the refund request - it's only a £2.24 item!

·5 months agoUnless you want the item back, you should just refund and tell the buyer to dispose of the item.
If it was the Nintendo bundle, you sold it as 'Used'.
Ebay's definition of 'used' is: 'An item that has been previously used. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended.'
It doesn't matter what you put in the title and description, the buyer expected a working item.

Not sold as 'spares and repairs' at all.

OP5 months agoHi thanks for your reply. yes it was it clearly states spares repairs not tested. eBay is getting worse. Sellers have no protection against dishonest buyers

Mentor5 months agoWhat you put in the title does not override the condition category, which was 'used'. That category says the item works as intended.

OP5 months agoI vaguely remember that i didnt have the option of spares repairs in the category thats why i clearly stated it in the listing.

Mentor5 months agoIt's not available for all items. Which means ebay doesn't want them sold like that.

OP5 months agoThe buyer has stated that the disc was missing which is not true. He admitted in his message that the return request for item not working is because the disc was missing. So he's used the wrong category for the return. The disc was not listed in what items would be sent but it was in the photo. How can I get to talk to an eBay person Thanks

Mentor5 months agoPhotos form part of the description, if the photos show a disc the disc should be sent with the item.
It's pointless trying to fight this just accept the return and refund, if you don't eBay are likely to refund the buyer at your expense and tell them they do not have to return the item

Mentor5 months agoIf the buyer opens a case for item not as described, then as cases are all automatic you will have to either fully refund within 3 days or pay for a tracked return label, and only refund when the item is back with you, you'll have 48 hours to do so. Stick within those timelines and your seller performance is not affected.
If eBay step in and refund, should the case be escalated, if you think the decision for the refund unfair, you can appeal, link below shows the process.
I'll admit it's not easy, eBay do not see the item in question and they do tend to side with a buyer's view.

Mentor5 months agoOnce upon a time, when ebay was a fairer place for sellers, the money back guarantee didn't apply to listings in the spares or parts categories, it also didn’t apply to items listed for collection.
Now buyers have the same rights for these categories as they do for any others.
