Sold an item, but order details show a different username to the transaction details
Bit of a weird one maybe - I've just sold a very high value item to someone with only 2 buyer feedback and I feel somewhat uneasy but happy to ship after the weekend. However, when I check the transaction details page the username is different and on clicking it says: Sorry, this user was not found.
Does anyone know why this would differ? Is it a bug?

You certainly can't deliver it until this confusion has been cleared up.
Has eBay given you the name and address to which you are instructed to deliver it?
The buyer is allowed to state an aternative delivery address at checkout, but it would be odd if this proved to be the address of another eBay user. It could even be a previous username and address of your buyer.
To say that you feel uneasy about this is an understatement, especially as a £1.2k MacBook is liable to be a magnet for scammers.
It all sounds potentially very suspicious and your bottom line might be to use this uncertainty to justify cancelling the sale due to problems with the buyer's address. (This is one of the few reasons eBay accepts for cancelling sales without the seller being penalised.)

OP6 months agoYeah I have a name and address - I can't see any discrepancies there.
I think I'll probably just cancel this one given the nature of the item/scam potential and hope that the next buyer isn't as suspicious as this. I just feel very uneasy.
Thanks for the help and advice!

Have they paid?
Await to see if eBay confirm payment, do nothing else in the meantime.
With no payment after 4 days, cancel the order after 4 days of non payment , and block the buyer from returning here:
