Sold a pair of work boots and buyer has abused them he wants a refund
I sold a Brand New Pair of work wear Boots, never been used and in excellent condition. The buyer has sent photos showing the sole has come apart. I think he has abused the boots as they should not have been damaged like this in normal wear. He now wants a refund which I am not going to do as it is clear he has misused the boots somehow. How do I stand with this can Ebay tell them they are not getting a refund.

Mentor3 weeks agoHave the boots been stored for a while? Only because shoes and boots do not store well, and some do tend to fall apart once they're out of storage and worn.
Buyers have 30 days to return an item that they consider is not as described under eBay's Buyer Protection/Money Back Guarantee, and if your buyer has already opened or opens an eBay item not as described return, they'll be required to send it back to you for a full refund of their original payment, and you'll need to provide them with a pre-paid returns label (if you don't provide a label, the buyer can escalate the dispute and get one from eBay, who will re-charge you for it).
You will get a defect against your selling account if you don’t accept the return and the buyer escalates the dispute to ask eBay to step in, which they can do after 3 business days.
Once you get your item back, pop back here for advice on how to proceed if the boots are definitely not the ones you sent.

Mentor3 weeks agoHas the buyer opened a case? If the open an item not as described you have to accept it, or rather it’s best to accept if you don’t want a strike out on your seller account in your DSR’s.
If they have done nothing so far wait to see what they do and then come back here for further advice on what to do.
I presume the picture they sent was the boots you sent them and they didn’t have a knackered pair at home?

OP3 weeks agoWell I am unsure if they are same boots to be honest. Some people are just scammers. He has opened a case Not as Described but I am not happy about it. I have reported him and dont want to refund as they were perfect when posted.

Mentor3 weeks ago · EditedAfter three days, buyer can escalate to ebay, then you will really have a problem as ebay may take it that you do not want boots returned and just refund at your expense.
In addition you get a defect on your account, which will show on your seller dashboard, and may lead to taking you below standard with selling restrictions.
