We sold a large machine to a buyer in Canada at the beginning of February and we have to pack these in two large parcels 28 kg each to send through Ebays Global Shipping.
as we have to buy the parts for it from various countrys, it takes a while to make but we have sent these out before to various places on the planet and never had any problem.
However this time ,the two parcels were sent down to Pitney Bowes at the Lichfield depot with DHL and theywere recieved there and we have reciepts for this, then after a couple of days on the tracking ,only one parcel was moving.
We rang Ebay and was told dont worry, its fine and anyway ,your fully insured,( which is not the atitude) and this has carried on for two weeks after which a case wase opened to try and find out the parcels location.
yesterday we recieved a email saying the case is closed, ebay is NOT refunding the buyer OR giving us the money back for the lost parcel, as the order was over 30 days old when it was sent out.
Funny but i cant find this rule anywhere , all the rest we have sent over the last few years have taken the same lenght of time, why did they send one part of the order and where is the missing part of the order, which we now have to make again, at our own expense and also pay the £270 frieght cost to ship it to Canada so the buyer can put it together with the part that has been sent
This is Totaly unfair to the buyer, and to us as the seller. its the attitude of Oh we messed up losing on of your parcels, but we are not going to pay the buyer or seller any compensation.
I would like to Either appeal this decision, if i can, or i want the parcel back that didnt leave the pitney Bowes wharehouse, but hey ho, they are not contactable. funny that
We have been customers of Ebay for 15 years, but now feel totaly let down by this, even if we were offerd half the amount of the total price to help with the cost of building and sending the new half, it would have been somthing

Mentor2 months agoYour buyer can get their money back if they paid with a debit/credit card or Apple Pay, they can just issue a not received chargeback via their card provider. They have 120 days to do that.
As regards the 30 days, on the buyers order there's the latest estimated delivery date. They should have kept an eye on this and opened an eBay item not received claim within the 30 days they had to do so.
I suspect that your dispatch times haven't been extended enough to accommodate this kind of item, and that's why both you and your buyer are past eBay's 30 day Money Back Guarantee.

Mentor2 months agoDid the buyer open a item not received case? In which case ebay should play ball if you have proof of delivery to Litchfield. What case was actually opened by the buyer?
Secondly as John says its inevitably alot cheaper doing it yourself. As if there is more than one parcel major carriers let you consign the boxes. I don't know your dimension sizes but a quick check for a 28kg parcel to canada showed results of £110-£130 with parcelforce or UPS, when I just checked.

Mentor2 months agoI doubt you will get anywhere with ebay.
Lesson to learn in my opinion, is to arrange your own shipping, which should prove cheaper for buyer, and in the event of one order being in two packages, it would be under your control as two items, not one as with GSP.
