Simple Delivery used UPS and not RM International Standard for USA
For some recent sales to USA, eBay Simple Delivery ignores my preference for RM International Standard mailing (as selected by the buyer and shown on the Order Details page), but will only issue labels for UPS courier - despite my not having any couriers selected on my shipping preferences. I have 10 miles to drive for a UPS drop-off point, which makes UPS uneconomical. I have previously asked buyers in the US to cancel their order as the funds they selected for shipping (RM Int Std), doesn't cover the bill for UPS. Any ideas ?

Mentor6 months agoAs I understand it, using Royal Mail, you will have to pay the tariff, which I presume the buyer has not paid.
A friend sells a lot to USA using facebook. Before buyer pays she buys postage from RM so that buyer covers all costs.

·6 months agoThis is easy to solve.
You do not have to buy your postage from Ebay.
Either take your items to the Post Office and pay there, or buy direct from Royal Mail by using a Click and Drop account - the prices are a bit lower if you use C&D and you can produce and print a customs label at the same time.

I had thought about that, but eBay, having allocated what the buyer paid for shipping (in my case, what I quoted for Int Std mailing) for a UPS label, (the only option provided by eBay) will those funds still be available in my payment from the sale should I choose not to use UPS, ignored Simple Delivery and paid separately to RM for a postage label using the Royal Mail website ? eBay had already deducted the sales tax from the sale earnings. Hope that is understood !

·6 months agoI may be wrong - and happy to be corrected by other mentors or Community Team - but, as far as I know, Simple Delivery is just not an option for overseas sales. The payment for postage should be in your 'payments' with the money paid for the item. It's then up to you to buy the label , from Ebay or elsewhere, with those funds.

You are correct. Simple Delivery is available for UK domestic deliveries only. If the global shipping programme is used then Simple Delivery label can be used to send the item to the UK shipping centre.
