Simple Delivery System Label and QR Failure Frequency?
Summary: starfish.1 experienced a problem with eBay's Simple Delivery System when trying to print a label and generate a QR code, resulting in a manual postage charge of £4.45. They inquired about the frequency of such issues and potential reimbursement policies. *vyolla* shared that they had no issues and suggested alternative methods for accessing labels. Later, starfish.1 updated that eBay's Customer Service provided a manual code and label and offered reimbursement for the incurred postage costs, resolving the issue.
I have listed an item and it sold, with my buyer paying for postage. I went to print the label and generate the qr code, but it failed. I raised a ticket, they said it could be 24 to 48 hours before resolution, and there was currenly a technical issue with the simple delivery system. So I posted the parcel manually, uncurring a £4.45 charge.
How often is the Simple Delivery System down?
Am I right in saying there is no way of disabling it?
Does eBay refund charges like this?
I bought an item last month and my seller had the exact same issue, so I'm basically thinking of pulling all my listings right now.

OP3 months agoUPDATE:
Just in case this happens to anyone else, ebay Customer Service manually issued me a few hours later with a code and label to my email, and also anticipated that I might have already paid for delivery myself and offered to reimburse me if I had.
So it all worked out in the end.

Mentor3 months agoI'm not aware that there is currently an issue with accessing Simple Delivery postage labels or QR codes. I used a couple of QR codes this morning with no issue.
Did you try using different browsers or a different device (I used desktop, not the app).
I'm not aware that eBay has a process for claiming back postage that you ended up having to pay yourself, but if eBay have a record of discussing this with you and have acknowledged that there is a technical issue then I guess there may be some way of getting reimbursement. You'll need to ask eBay.
Private sellers listing their own personal items have to use Simple Delivery, business sellers (those buying items to resell) don't.
