Simple Delivery Quandary
Summary: michaelf9482 is concerned about shipping a picture with dimensions exceeding the 'small package' size, fearing surcharge issues for the buyer. **peaseblossom** suggests canceling and relisting the item with correct postage, while tommystrezures warns about potential insurance issues if the frame is glass, as Royal Mail may not cover it. michaelf9482 is hesitant to cancel but wants to avoid causing inconvenience to the buyer.
Sold a picture (measures 43 x 38 cms). Simple delivery has determined that it’s a small package (45 x 35 x 16 cms; 1 - 2 kgs).
Finally managed to find a box that it fits in, however, the dimensions are 53 x 41 x 22 cms. I’m concerned that there maybe be an issue at the P.O or hearing from the buyer that they’ve had to pay some sort of surcharge.
Should I just take it to the P.O and hope that I hear no more about it? Btw, the weight is about .5 kgs.
Many thanks, M

Mentor3 months agoIf its the 'Munch' style picture in frame is that a glass frame? Be aware that Royal Mail don't cover them usually for insurance.

OP3 months agoYes it is glass. It’s under £20 so not overly concerned 😀

Mentor3 months agoIt might be OK, or the post office might refuse it, or the buyer may have to pay more at their end. It's gone out of the small parcel size bracket so personally I would cancel the transaction with buyer's agreement and relist with correct postage for them to buy again. Unless you want to buy and pay for the new postage yourself.

OP3 months agoMany thanks. I forgot to mention that the item has been listed for a long time, so I probably chose the shipping method. Would that mean it’s not simple delivery?
My preferred option would be via Evri, however I can’t see any option to change it now??
So, cancel & relist? I don’t want this to cause any hassle for the buyer.
