Simple delivery and combining postage - two questions
Summary: sidneyl88 is concerned about eBay's requirement for Simple Delivery on items with a starting price over £20. They sell football programmes and typically offer combined postage at actual cost. They wonder if Simple Delivery allows combined postage or if buyers will pay multiple postage amounts. Additionally, they are unsure if buyers will face higher postage costs on items that sell for much more than their starting price, as they usually cover extra costs themselves for more secure delivery methods.
Until now I've never sold using Simple Delivery but eBay is now imposing this option for any auction item with a starting price over £20.
I sell old football programmes from my personal collection (usual weight about 40 grams each) and have always offered combined postage at actual Royal Mail cost. I charge postage at the starting price - where the sale price is much higher I pay the difference myself for Tracked or even Special Delivery.
(1) Going forward - does Simple Delivery allow combined postage? Or will my buyers be forced to pay multiple postage amounts when buying multiple programmes from me which could easily be sent in one A4 envelope?
(2) If the starting price is £30 but it sells for £300 - does the buyer pay more for postage? Previously I would send Special Delivery rather than Tracked 48 but would not expect the buyer to pay the extra cost of this service
Thanks!

Mentor1 month agoPrivate sellers can't combine postage.
If buyer adds all items to basket, ebay will sort combined postage.
Simple delivery postage covers up to £750, so you don't need to use special delivery yourself.
