Silver / onyx ring Return refunded to the buyer but I'm not getting it back.

Question

I sold a silver ring and the buyer said the envelope was ripped, the ring was bent and the stone fell out. EBay has refunded them but has said I won't get the item back. I want it back as the stone and silver is worth money. This is not acceptable and I am preparedto pay for postage to get the damaged item back. They could sell the silver and onyx stone. How is this fair? It has scam written all over it. EBay you must rectify this.

EBay has refunded themIf eBay has refunded the buyer themselves, and not claimed the money back from you, it's no longer your ring . You have sold and been paid for it.If the buyer has been refunded by eBay it isn't the buyer's ring either. It's up to eBay whether they want the damaged ring in order to recoup some of their loss. It's possible that they won't bother, and will let the buyer keep it. Either way, you have no claim to the ring and it isn't a scam.

You are no worse off, so what is unfair. Situation is exactly as it would have been if ebay had not refunded.

If you sent it using Simple Delivery and the buyer opened a case for damaged in transit, then ebay funds the refund and you keep the sale proceeds. Buyer keeps the item.
