Shopping Trolly not fit for Purpose
I bought a forward facing 6 wheeled Shopping Trolly in june 2025 the Handle fell off on one side It lost the seal/washer and locking nut that connect vis a conecting rod on the other side. The seal/washer and locking screw is perfect on opp side the shopper arrived already built and NO INSTRUCTIONS. label in front pocket not attached. It was used approx 28 times approx after 7/8 months on seller first calculations seller said it was wear and tear. I thought in Britain 12 guarantee for Brand new items at least he said I bounced it up and down pavements and on bus firstly the driver always come to kerb and I use the Traffic lights nearAsda /Morrisons they have dropped kerbs for Parcial sighted and wheelchairs. I have not seen a shop[ping Trolly with wings so if you are not allowed to cross roads or get on and off a bus it is not fit for purpose. I asked for a nylon seal and locking bolt he said he does not have any and he would see an Iron monger these are chinese fittings I have used the internet to try to get them myself but cannot he cannot get them either I as hinto take them off an other trolly and return the trolly to his supplier who most likely could get the from his chinese seller something I cannot do. The shopper is not fit for Purposr after 7/8 months use its a Manchester named shopper

Mentor5 months agoSorry, but you are too late to get help from ebay(they only provide 30 day MBG)
Payment provider is 120 days at most.
This is between you and seller.
12 month guarantee is only of use if you can enforce it.
Ebay don't get involved beyond their MBG.

OP5 months agoThank you but it is Britain and we have laws that also apply to online shopping you have longer to change your mind to return items as not seen. This Trolly is still covered by rule as he is a trader Im not I do not sell only buy. I am going to go to the Citizens Advice as advise by an headteacher who helped there. The trolly is dangerous as T have not abused it I dont abuse anything I buy If someone was using this trolly as a lot of elderly do they could have been just standing leaning on Handle and have ended on floor or worse get knocked down if they fell infront of a car other people said theirs fell to bits after 2 months. You cannot sell rubbish that is dangerous and not fit for purpose if he had replaced the seal and nut I would have go my neighbour to fix the handle on for me. As a good Ebay buyer I would have thought ebay would have stepped in but their bots are worse than useless sending me around in circles

OP5 months agoUnder the law the buyer has 6 months to expect replacement or return. after 6 months the Item has to be fit for purpose or be defective ( ADR )this Trolly was not built by me one side was perfect no wear on seal like new and locking bolt on connecting rod was locked in position on the side the bar came away the seal and bolt was lost I didnt even know they had fell off until I seen the connecting Rod sticking out on the otherside still with locking bolt in place someone who put it together did not do a good job it was prob a return with no instructions another fault that people complained about

Mentor5 months agoEverything you say about durability etc is right but you bought from a seller on ebay and it is that seller that needs to obey consumer law.
Ebay didn't sell you anything, but provides the money back guarantee as a short term additional protection for buyers. Once that expires they won't help with issues.
