Selling Replica Guitar 100% For Charity
After my friend's death I was left a Chinese replica of an American guitar. Can I sell it on eBay if I give the whole sale proceeds to charity.

After my friend's death I was left a Chinese replica of an American guitar. Can I sell it on eBay if I give the whole sale proceeds to charity.

Mentor6 months agoThe difference between a replica and a fake is that a fake is marked with the original maker's name to falsely represent it as an original. If it's a fake, selling fakes is illegal, on eBay or anywhere else.
If it's an unbranded copy or carries the actual maker's brand name, and you don't even mention the original make of guitar it copies, you might be allowed to list it on eBay. However, it's possible that the original brand owner may report it if it infringes their registered rights to the design, in which case it would be removed.

OP6 months agosay in the description that it is not that particular brand, but a
replica? Or should I just give it to a charity shop to sell? It's a shame
if it can't achieve some benefit for charity.

Mentor6 months agoA replica of a branded item is a counterfeit, and it would be illegal to try and sell this anywhere in the UK.
