Selling Account Restrictions
Summary: zaidselect inquired about eBay's payout system for orders shipped without tracking and wondered if funds are released based on the estimated delivery date. john1297576 and papso22 suggested that funds might be held for 14 days unless the seller already qualifies for quicker releases. tommystrezures noted that positive feedback could accelerate fund release. tobiasd4 warned zaidselect about potential account suspension due to trading as an unregistered business seller. zaidselect mentioned having a selling restriction impacting fund release timelines.
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to understand how eBay's payout system works for orders sent without tracking.
On my order, eBay says:
“Your funds will be available within 7 days of order delivery after we confirm that the buyer has no issues with the order upon receipt. Please ensure you upload the tracking details to enhance the buyer's experience.”
My question is: what happens when there is no tracking information?
Obviously, the buyer doesn't manually confirm delivery in the normal sense. So, does eBay use the estimated delivery date as the point from which the 7 days is calculated when an order has no tracking?
For example, if the estimated delivery date is 10 September, would the funds become available around 17 September provided the buyer hasn't reported any problem?
I'm aware that a buyer can potentially open an Item Not Received case within the applicable Money Back Guarantee period. I'm not asking whether a buyer can dispute an order later — I'm simply trying to understand when my funds are released if there is no tracking and the buyer doesn't report any issue.
Has anyone actually experienced this with an untracked order and can confirm what happened?
Thanks!

Mentor1 month agoTBH.
You're on a sticky wicket, you're trading illegally as an unregistered business seller.
Ebay have already restricted you, so you are on their radar.
If you don't upgrade to business seller, ebay are likely to suspend you.

OP1 month agoProbably leave eBay soon. I am more concerned about when I would be able to withdraw my funds. The are asking for tracking numbers on £4 orders. Do you know when the restrictions would be lifted if i do not get any disputes? Thanks

Mentor1 month agoGenerally if sent via your own means etc you will possibly have to wait 14 days before payment released.
When ebay say we will confirm after buyer no issue etc, that usually means if they leave positive feedback then they may release funds three days after.

OP1 month agoHi!
I am quite a big seller on ebay and normally get my funds after 1 day but I got a selling restriction on my account and all my funds are on hold until the item is delivered.
But what will happen if you send item untracked? How long would i have to wait if there are no issues and the buyer does not file a claim?
Thank you
papso22
Mentor1 month agoGenerally speaking payment for untracked items happens about 14 days after the sale provided there are no payment holds, for example for new sellers.

Mentor1 month ago · EditedMost likely held for 14 days or longer depending on your status as a seller.
When you qualify money is released within 24 hours, or in other words before you have even posted.
