Sellers Shouldn't Have to Pay Return Postage for Buyer Mistakes
I’d like to raise a concern regarding the current return postage policy for items returned due to buyer error—specifically when a customer changes their mind or orders by mistake.
As a small business, I take great care in accurately describing, photographing, and packaging every item I sell. However, I’ve noticed an increase in returns where buyers admit they simply no longer want the item or ordered incorrectly. Under the current system, I am responsible for the return postage costs even though there was no fault with the item or listing.
This creates a financial burden for small independent sellers like myself and can discourage fair participation in the marketplace. I believe it would be much fairer if buyers who return items for reasons unrelated to item condition, accuracy, or seller error were required to cover the return postage costs.
Implementing an option for sellers to automatically assign return postage responsibility to the buyer in these cases would help maintain fairness, reduce unnecessary losses for small sellers, and encourage buyers to make more mindful purchasing decisions.

Sellers are only required to pay the return postage where a case is opened under eBay's money back guarantee. Unfortunately, some buyers falsely claim that an item is not a s described to get a free return at the seller's expense. Perhaps this is what you have been experiencing?
