Seller told me to complete “cancellation request”
Seller has notified me the item I have paid for is not in stock. I replied on eBay message to refund me. Seller now says I have to complete a “Cancellation Request”. Can someone tell me if this is different to my refund request already sent ? ie. is there an official form?!!

OP2 weeks agoThank you for replies. First time in several years as purchaser on eBay, that I’ve experienced this problem. Always a first!

Mentor2 weeks agoNo the seller is telling you pork pies.... Only the seller can cancel an order, however they may not want to do this lightly as if the item is out of stock, they will get a strike on their selling account. If they have done this numerous times before they could be in trouble.
The other way round this to protect you is you would have received an estimated delivery date, one day after this, you can open an item not received case, and force the refund through in this manner. After three days if the seller does nothing escalate the case to eBay and they will refund you, however I would not make the sellers life too easy if the item is out of stock, as they can circumnavigate the strike by not cancelling and you opening up an INR.

Mentor2 weeks agoThis though allows the seller to escape a strike for out of stock if the request comes from the buyer.
