Seller sold a fake poster and won't respond.
I bought a Sex Pistols poster on the 12th October 2025 and it arrived a couple of days later but as we were having to have a lot of back to brick renovations done due to the state of poor workmanship from the previous owners, I decided not to even attempt to open it due to the sheer volume of brick and plasterboard dust that was constantly in the air.
A couple of weeks ago, with all the work completed and freshly plastered and painted, I excitedly took the poster tube down to the local framers who has done loads for museums and galleries and we've also used for 30 years for our own stuff.
He opened the tube and immediately recoiled as it was clearly a modern reprint on thick paper and not an original as sold.
I went to open a return only to discover I was literally a few days past so decided to message him and see if he was prepared to rectify his fraud as the original listing pictures showed an aged poster which is why I bought it. This was pristine and as I said, on thick paper.
I just came back on ebay to try and open a fraud case but it won't let me even do that and I can't find a contact number to call them to report it to either.
I'm obviously upset that i've paid over £700 for a £30 print but fear other people will get ripped off in future too as he clearly knew what he was doing because he hasn't responded to any of my 3 messages so far!

Mentor6 months agoIf you paid with a debit or credit card you're still within the 120 days you get to issue a not as described chargeback.
I can't access that listing, is the seller a UK seller with lots of posters? Only asking because that's a top dollar price for any SP poster.

·6 months agoI did look at the seller before the post was edited - it's a private account selling lots of general stuff.
If the item was received in October, the 120 days is gone - we're in February now.

Mentor6 months agoThanks, I did find it in the end. I was intrigued because I've a big collection of various music posters and know that there's one business dealer who has top dollar genuine posters, but I've not come across anyone else with one that could be worth that much.

·6 months agoAs advised, the Ebay Money Back Guarantee gives you a right to return a mis-described item for 30 days only.
It really is essential to examine your purchase carefully within that timeframe, especially if you have spent a large amount.
Ebay don't deal with fraud cases but you can try reporting the seller using the link below.
There are only a few, very specific reasons for reporting a seller and, even if you do report the seller, Ebay will not tell you what action, if any, they take.
