Seller sent defective item, is refusing to refund it
Summary: frankaki261 purchased a clothing item described as a gilet, but received a poorly altered jacket. Despite initial apologies from the seller and a request for photos, the seller later refused a refund. Since the issue is outside eBay's guarantee period, eBay cannot assist further. **peaseblossom** advised contacting the payment provider for potential help.
I bought an item of clothing in July. but when it arrived the seams were all unpicked and fraying around the armholes (it had been listed as a gilet but clearly it was a jacket someone had cut the sleeves off - shoddily - needless to say this was not mentioned in the listing).
I contacted the seller and told them the problem and at first they were apologetic saying "sorry to hear this, please send pictures so I can raise it with my listers". So I did that and then just didn't hear back.
I gave it some time because that seemed reasonable but then over two months had past and still no response so I sent a refund request which they just refused. I am outside of eBay's money back guarantee window now but I also can't contact eBay to ask for help in any way now since the "decision is final and cannot be appealed" on the refund request. It seems I have absolutely no recourse whatsoever, how can this possibly be right?
Any advice gratefully received.

Mentor3 weeks agoYour seller was crafty and timed you out by using the poor excuse of raising with their listers.......
What you should have done is followed the eBay MBG and opened a not as described case on day one, the seller would have then had to provide a label for you to return the item and for you to get a full refund.
As @**peaseblossom** says approach your payment provider to see if they can assist, as thats you only recourse now.

Mentor3 weeks agoTo get help from ebay you have to stick to their rules and their 30 day deadline. They won't do anything now. Contact your payment provider and see if they can help.
