Seller refused to send my items then deleted their account
So I won 2 items from the same seller through auction and immediately after I'd paid they messaged me basically refusing to send them because they didn't receive as many bids as they'd hoped. I replied but quickly came to realise that their account no longer existed! I of course reported this to eBay only to receive an email from them the following day claiming they couldn't find the content I was reporting and requested more information - I already provided what little info I had, so there's unfortunately nothing else I can give them from my end. To make matters worse, I've literally just seen the same items listed on another online marketplace, so I've messaged the seller and they instantly blocked me. Since eBay themselves are clearly no help, do I now have to go through my bank, is it a matter for the police, or is there a better/simpler option for me to get my money back?

OP6 months agoThank you both for the speedy and helpful replies. I assumed he deleted the account himself because it was right after I’d paid and before I’d even had the chance to report him. As far as I’m aware it was his first sale too, so I’m not sure how eBay would’ve known prior to me letting them know about his actions. Also, if they did in fact suspend the account themselves, should they not automatically refund any open orders or at least reach out to buyers? They’ve left me in the dark and have been no help upon me reaching out to them. Just to confirm - the seller didn’t cancel the order, he simply refused to send the items. I tried requesting a cancellation myself but eBay basically refused it. Just realised the delivery estimate ends tomorrow anyway, so will try again then, otherwise I’ll take your advice and go through my bank. Thanks again!

Mentor6 months agoFor information a seller cannot just close their account, it can take some time until there is no possibility of any claims.
Ebay can of course close an account where seller has behaved badly. Cancelling sales without good reason will quickly get a seller removed.
