Seller refunding rather than supply the item.

Question

I bid on an item and won it.Now rather than supply the item, the seller has told E-bay, it's out of stock or damaged, so has refunded me.The seller has identical items still for sale at a much higher price.I believe the seller sent the item to auction without a reserve, and because it didn't go high enough, they have reneged on the deal.Can E-Bay insist the deal goes ahead?ThanksMark.

You are right in that it does seem the seller did not receive the auction price they wished for, but you are wrong to think eBay can force a seller to send out a winning / paid for item.

The seller claimed out of stock for the reason for cancelling, then they would have received a damaging defect on their account, eBay do not like disappointing their buyers.

The above is easily avoided if only sellers start auctions for the lowest amount they are happy to receive, it can never then, sell for less.

You can leave appropriate feedback, careful what you say, so it's not removed, something like.... ' Very disappointed to to receive the auction item I won.'
