Seller Marked Item as Collected When It Wasn’t
I bought a virtual item and the seller asked for the collection code. This isn’t uncommon to be asked for the code first so I sent it. The seller marked the item as collected despite not even discussing trading over the items. They then asked if I could request a return because they were scared they weren’t going to get their money because it was on hold (the money had already left my account). I couldn’t ask for a refund because it was marked as collected so I instead asked for a return. The seller okayed the return but said I had to post the item back with tracking but did not supply a postage label when they said they did. Also I didn’t even receive the item and it’s virtual how could I return it? I closed the return request because I wasn’t sure what else to do and I couldn’t return anything. The seller now has four negative reviews saying the same thing happened to them. Is there any way I can contact eBay or get my money back?

·10 months agoYou can try your payment provider - however, as the item was (incorrectly) listed as collection only, and you gave the seller the collection code, I don't think you will get anywhere.
Your experience does serve as a warning to other buyers though.
If sellers with private accounts are selling digitally delivered items, either with a postage option or as 'collection only', you are probably best to avoid them.
Edit
Oh dear! Having looked at the items you are selling, from your private account, you are selling digitally delivered items as collection only. You can only list such items in the Everything Else > Information Products category in the classified ad format.
You should read Ebay's policy:
