Seller has sent UK phone adapter using eBay shipping process and said mobile phone will come via Royal Mail
Summary: morag_cooper ordered a mobile phone from a reputable eBay seller in China but received only a UK adapter so far. Despite the positive feedback on the seller, the phone has not arrived, and inquiries to the seller have led to apologies and explanations about shipping delays. morag_cooper is concerned about potential fraud and is seeking advice on how to contact eBay's support or their payment provider for a resolution. john1297576 suggests contacting the payment provider.
I ordered a mobile phone from a shop registered on eBay located in China. This seller is listed as a reputable seller who has been operating since 2008 and has good stats - 99.1% positive feedback, 83K items sold, with 1.2K followers.
At the time I placed the order, I checked out as guest as I could not remember my eBay login details. I received my order confirmation quickly, but I got an email explaining their shipping process, saying eBay ask for all standard shipping to come from SpeedPAK, or else the seller may not sell phones in the eBay store. However, their warehouse cannot use SpeedPAK for some reason , so they will send a UK 3-pin adapter via SpeedPAK and then the phone will come a little later via Royal Mail (a shipping number would be sent later). The adapter has been posted and now, as far as eBay know, the order has been posted and received - except it is not the phone. I am still waiting for the phone. I have messaged the seller several times over the past 2 months - I get apologies and have been told that there was a delay at customs and I will receive the phone soon. I have now messaged the seller asking for a refund, but as it is now past the 30 days, I am concerned that I have been defrauded and am not sure what recourse I have available.
I have read the seller feeback, with is almost all completely positive, and other buyers also experienced having a UK adapter posted first, but the longest people seem to have had to wait is a month.
Has anyone else has a similar experience? Is there a way to contact anyone within eBay to raise a complaint - other than the AI bot?

Mentor1 month agoDo you not see the trick here, in them sending you a small item so they have a tracking number relating to that order and it shows as received?
If you paid with a debit/credit card or Apple Pay then issue a not as described chargeback (not a 'not received' one).
