seller has opened a shein account to send my item
Summary: hafla66 noted that a purchase was sent in a package from a well-known retailer with an account created in their name but linked to a different phone number. They expressed concern over potential GDPR violations and issues reporting it due to a malfunctioning site page. tobiasd4 suggested that if the seller used the retailer as a dropshipper, it might be allowed, but if the seller directly purchased and forwarded the item, it could be reported.
I purchased an item and the tracking came to my phone messages f rom shein. When the item arrived in a shein package with a shein returns address, I put my tel number into shein online and they have an account in my name but to look at the account they send a code to a phone number and the number they are sending it to is not my number. This means the seller has given shein my name address and tel number without my permission and breaches GDPR. I have tried to report as a breach of e bay policy but the page doesnt work

Mentor1 month agoIf seller is a business that uses sheen as drop shipper, it is allowed.
If you bought from seller who then bought from shein to post to you, it can be reported.

OPJul 17, 2026 at 11:42 AMHi thank you for replying. I bought from a buyer with no mention of shein on the ad or his account, who then arranged for the product to be sent by shein and to do this he opened an account with shein in my name and tel no so tracking details were sent direct from shein and the parcel arrived direct from shein with return details for shein. I put my tel number into shein and my details came up. It also gave a number they were going to txt a code to and that number is not mine. I have never dealt with shein. Is this drop shipping? I think its a breach of gdpr to give my details to another company. Thoughts?
