Seller description of an item does not match the physical picture | Member To Member Support

Good evening. I have been a member of the ebay community for about 21 years. A very recent item I was viewing (locking Toggle switch), mis-led me into thinking that the item depicted did not match my requirements. However the technical description did, which led to a non-purchase of the item. Should not the picture of the physical item and technical description match in all cases? The response I have had from the vendor, has been that the use of 'Generic' pictures is ok? This I have not experienced before on this site. Maybe this is acceptable and or appropriate. Thank you.
