Seller closed return case without contacting me!
Summary: anncoli-14 is trying to contact eBay about a returns case that was closed by the seller without communication. They are concerned about the safety and quality of a pool they purchased, still unused and sealed in its original packaging, and are stuck in a loop with eBay's chat service. tressygirl suggests checking if the return was initiated within eBay's 30-day Money Back Guarantee period and questions how the item was deemed unsafe if unopened. If eBay's timeframe has passed, they recommend contacting the payment provider for assistance with a refund.
I am trying to speak / communicate with someone at Ebay regarding a returns case that has been closed by the seller without even contacting me about it. The product I have received is not safe at all and the quality is substandard to the point of it being dangerous.
I want to speak to ebay about the money back guarantee but the chat agent keeps going round and round and then says someone will contact me in three minutes. That was 30 minutes ago. The product has not been used. Is in its original packaging and sealed. I have left feedback as I am unable to use this product as I would not feel safe letting my children use it. It's a pool and the quality of the product is appalling.

MentorJul 20, 2026 at 10:28 AMWhen did you open a case/ return this item? If it was outside eBay's 30 day MBG Money Back Guarantee time, the case would automatically close, as you were out of time to claim a refund with eBay.
You need to open a return within 30 days of the item's last estimated date for delivery. The only other way it can close, is if you forgot to escalate the case if the seller was not responding with a refund.
May I politely ask how you found the item unsafe and of poor quality if you did not open the packaging at all, that it's still sealed in its original packaging?
If you have run out of time to claim with eBay, they your payment provider see if they can help with a refund.
