Seller can't use prepaid label
Hi all,
I’m looking for some advice about an eBay situation.
I won an auction and paid the full amount, including shipping to a UK address. Here are the details:
- Subtotal: £121.00
- Postage: £3.10
- VAT: £0.62
- Total: £124.72
After the payment, the seller contacted me saying he couldn’t print the prepaid shipping label. He mentioned that the prepaid label was not available for him and that he had to pay extra for postage.
He also suggested that I might have changed something that caused this issue, but I didn’t change anything at all. Now he is asking me to cover this additional cost.
From my point of view, I paid exactly what was requested during checkout, so I don’t think I did anything wrong or should be responsible for extra charges.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue with prepaid labels? Is this something that can happen on the seller’s side?
Thank you.

OP4 months agoHi,
thank you for the quick reply. It looks like the seller has posted the item, which is fair, but he is asking me to cover the extra cost.
As I said, I understand his frustration, but I don’t feel responsible for the situation since I didn’t change anything. The postcode starts with DA.

Mentor4 months agoIt is not up to buyers to get postage right, you paid what was requested, and that is all you need to pay, it is up to seller to buy postage and if not correct it is his responsibility.
If now posted, then do not get into an argument with seller, just await arrival and if nothing arrives by estimated arrival date, open a not received case.

This is no excuse for the seller to behave in this way and they should just get on with posting your item you have paid for. You are NOT responsible for extra postage charges, the may incur, what you pay at checkout is what is charged. End of.
Personally I would ignore the sellers requests, you will have with the order an estimated delivery date. If the item hasn't arrived by then you open an item not received case on the day after.
If the seller decides to cancel your order, keep the correspondance you have as they may be trying to avoid fees for the reason the cancel. This is then reportable to eBay.
I just wish sellers wouldn't behave in this way.....
