Seller cancelled order after payment!
Summary: craftshedgirl won an auction and paid promptly, only to receive an email from the seller stating that the item shouldn't have been sold due to a reserve price of £200, where it sold for £112. The seller is refunding the payment, but craftshedgirl questions if this is an issue with the seller or an eBay error. papso22 suggests monitoring the cancellation reason for potential misinformation by the seller. *vyolla* confirms that if a reserve was in place, the transaction shouldn't have occurred and advises reporting the seller for not intending to complete the sale. tommystrezures also suggests leaving concise feedback for the seller.
I won the auction. paid for the item promptly. I then sent a message asking when we could arrange for me to collect the item.
This morning I wake up to an email from the Seller stating that the item should not have been sold to me as there was a £200 reserve on the item so it should not have been sold to me for £112, and they are returning my payment. No SORRY or anything, to my mind if the item had a Reserve it would not have let me win the Auction, and it certainly should not have allowed me to pay for it.
Has anyone else had this problem?? If it was an Ebay problem, it's not my fault, and the Seller should take it up with Ebay.

OP1 month agoThank you for all your advice on this matter, I have indeed reported this matter to Ebay and I have now also left negative feedback. I have no idea what might happen to them, if indeed anything, I do know they will have lost their 100% feedback status, which I am sure is a prized thing to have when you are a Seller.

Mentor1 month agoYou should be able to leave appropriate feedback. Just keep it short and sweet and don't mention refund or ebay etc.

Mentor1 month agoIf there was a £200 Reserve on the item then it would not be possible for it to be sold for less, so clearly there was no Reserve.
Report the seller first for 'not intending to complete the sale' and leave appropriate feedback.

Mentor1 month agoIt happens a lot. Either ths seller is lieing or confused about how things work. Unfortunately ebay can't/won't force the seller to send the item. Look out for the cancellation resson, if it says anything about you requesting the cancellation or something wrong with your address, that's worth reporting.
