If you returned with or without sellers agreement, but did not do it through an ebay case, then there is no way to make seller refund, although a good seller would deal with it.
If seller does not know what to do, he should go to drop down menu, select cancel using reason Buyers Request.
Once a seller receives his returned item, they have 48 hours to refund you, if they don't you need to escalate the case, eBay step in and force the refund.
