Subject: Seller asking me to pay return cost despite free returns policy
Hi,
I purchased an item on eBay which was listed with a free returns policy. The item I received is not as expected and I have not used it — it is still in its original condition.
However, the seller is now asking me to pay for the return postage, even though the listing clearly mentioned free returns.
I would like to know:
- Am I required to pay for return shipping in this situation?
- What is the correct process to ensure I get a full refund?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Mentor6 months agoIf the seller has free returns set up properly then then you open the returns case you will get a free label.

Mentor6 months agoIf the listing said free returns you shouldn't have to pay the postage but if it's a "change of mind" return ebay's process is buyer pays return postage. However, if the item was not described correctly the seller would have to pay postage and ebay would enforce that if you escalate after 4 days. So it depends on what reason you've put in the return case.
