Seller asked Ebay to remove a review after a partial refund
Hi All
Just getting general thoughts/feedback here or even if i am in the wrong
Recently purchased a Viking Shield, described as "engraved", from what i hoped would be a reputable seller - their store looks legit, and the image of the product looked good - especially with the amount of detail and build quality.
What I received was nothing like the image - the "engraved" image was painted on, the boss was dented and not dimpled at all, the leather binding around the shield wasnt leather, the handle for the shield was a nailed on piece of wood, etc - a few other issues.
Contacted the seller, who was apologetic, offered either a small refund (he was losing money on the order) or he could cancel the order. We agreed to a 50% refund as i have a few friends who can do pyrography and sort the image bit out (it wasnt the world most expensive product, so 50% i could live with the other issues and sort the image)
I did leave a review of the product (not the seller) stating that what i recieved was nothing like the image etc. Seller then contacts me to get the review amended as it affects his 100% rating, and started on about it was a one off issue, as he wasnt around to sort the final product before sending and someone painted it on, completely ignoring all the other issues. I said i would amend the review slightly but would still leave what i though would be a fair review for other buyers if he sent me a review amendment request. didnt hear back.
Next time I look, he is back to 100% rating and my product review taken down, so I can only assume he has contacted ebay direct
Am i wrong to think that Ebay should have checked with me before removing a review? I could understand if I had returned the product for a full refund, but given that i still have the (inferior) product, i would assume that my review still stands? There doesnt seem to be any way of contacting ebay to discuss this.
Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this kind of thing?

Mentor6 months agoI think that by accepting a part refund, that tells ebay you are happy with the arrangement.
You should have gone for a return for a full refund, even then if seller sorts out promptly, a poor review would be inappropriate , but star ratings could be used to reflect the situation.
