second chance relisting
Summary: dlrtools shared their experience with an eBay auction where an item did not meet the reserve price, prompting them to offer a second chance to the top bidder. They noticed that the listing was reactivated for pre-approved buyers during this offer period, resulting in messages from potential buyers wishing to pay in cash. They were confused by the process since eBay seems to oppose off-platform transactions, and noted that the 'buy it now' button led users to message them instead of completing the purchase.
i had an item not meet reserve on an ebay auction. so i gave a second chance offer to the top bidder. in the meantime, the listing seems to have reactivated to pre approved buyers for three days (the length of time the second chance offer is open for) so im getting messages from people saying can we come and buy the item. (its a cash on collection item) i thought ebay didn't like off platform arrangements? according to some of these equiries the new listing 'buy it now' button when pressed invites them to message me rather than finalise a purchase.
