Scams being committed on eBay.
Summary: katima4sun expressed frustration with a seller on eBay, accusing them of not fulfilling pre-orders and manipulating delivery dates to avoid refund requests. They criticized eBay for allowing the seller to continue operating despite their tactics. Other participants suggested using eBay's money-back guarantee (MBG) effectively, but katima4sun noted the limitations once the 30-day period expires. Discussion included advice on handling pre-orders and disputes, with some participants emphasizing buyer responsibility in utilizing eBay's tools to combat scams. There was a consensus on the challenges of reporting and stopping dishonest sellers on the platform.
How does one even communicate with eBay? A buyer is "selling" pre order models which they do not honour. They string you along by continuously changing the delivery date until one no longer has the recourse to make a claim. In fact they say that eBay won't allow them to make a refund. They then mark the item as delivered and when you query this they say it was an error for when they sent out a "welcome" pack which conveniently never arrived. They have now removed the listing and refuse to answer any messages. The item was paid for on the 2nd November 2025 . If you read through the feedback you can see that he is a habitual liar. It is everyone's fault accept theirs. Fair enough that I have been scammed and I will learn from that but my concern is that eBay allow them to continue trading and scamming others.

OP2 weeks agoMy question hasn't been answered. The question is, there is a known scammer operating on eBay, how do you stop them?

Mentor2 weeks agoHow many negative feedback have they got and what are their DSR ratings.
Instead of allowing the scammer to get buyer out of time for getting a full refund, and out of time to leave feedback, it is not ebay doing nothing, it is buyers.
Low DSRs below 4.7 will bring to ebayโs attention and seller will be below standard with restrictions on their ability to continue selling.

OP2 weeks agoYou are wrong, I was out of time because I made the mistake of trusting the seller. Mistakes happen. I am now trying to do something to protect others, eBay continues to allow the scammer to operate. This buyer is doing something, eBay isn't.

If you tell us in what way this person is scamming buyers or sellers we might be able to offer more tailored advice.
In general, eBay is unlikely to react to general claims that a member is dishonest. Dishonesty is endemic on eBay; so much so that the user agreement specifically warns buyers that eBay does not guarantee that items sold here will be truthfully described, safe, legal - or even exist!
This is an indication of the risks you accept when trading with strangers here. As regards "reporting members" there is little point in reporting them per se. However, eBay guarantees buyers a full refund if an item doesn't arrive or isn't as described. They also penalize buyers who don't pay - although other forms of dishonesty by buyers often seem to pass unpunished.
Don't expect eBay to be like the shops. eBay is a jungle.

Mentor2 weeks agoPre orders have to be posted within 40 days of listing.
If not, you open item not received case 1 day after estimated delivery date, escalate on day 4.
Sellers can't extend delivery date.
Ignore seller excuses, open & escalate case.

Mentor2 weeks agoIt amazes me how many buyers allow themselves to be scammed by not understanding how Ebay's excellent money back guarantee works.

OP2 weeks agoThats not the point. There is a known scammer operating on eBay, how do you stop them?
papso22
Mentor2 weeks agoThey are stopped by buyers using the tools provided by ebay.
katima4sun
OP2 weeks agoThose tools expire, eBay should still allow recourse of action to protect others.

Mentor2 weeks agoIf buyers use the MBG correctly, then these sellers won't last long on ebay.
You are only scammed if you don't get refund, which is guaranteed with MBG.
katima4sun
OP2 weeks agoI never got a refund.

Mentor2 weeks agoUnfortunately you let seller delay you until after 30 day MBG, ebay won't help now.
