Scam fraud false claim abuse
A buyer wants to return a item just because he had to pay customs fees. He falsely claim it's not working and he also wants a refund for the border fees. Can eBay accept it just with a photo of the phone turned off? Thanks.

Mentor10 months agoIt makes do difference how many items you sold.
If you buy to sell on, you are a business, no private seller has that many new phones to sell.

·10 months agoYou have sold 33 items since 10th July this year so perhaps your business has only just taken off.
You accuse your buyer of being a scammer and a fraudster.
Consumer law states that business sellers have to have an 'any reason' returns policy and allow buyers to return purchases for a minimum of 14 days.
If you had the correct returns policy, your buyer might not be claiming that the phone doesn't work.
You will have to arrange to get the phone back and you will have to repay the amount you collected from the buyer.
As advised, they will need to claim back any import taxes paid to other parties independently.

If your buyer has falsely invented a reason to get a refund that just about even things out - because you have falsely presented yourself as a private seller, and not required to accept returns.
It's obvious from your listing page that you are a business seller, and required by law to accept returns for any reason. (Just in case you didn't realise, private sellers on eBay are restricted to selling their own, unwanted possessions. Selling multiple new phones is a business activity and requires registration as a business seller.)

Mentor10 months agoebay tend to side with buyers and it's mostly an automatic system so any photo is probably acceptable. In any case it's best to accept the return and get the phone back before a refund is issued.
The import tax is nothing to do with you. The buyer has to contact their own tax department to get a refund.
