Scam buyer
I've just had a post removed because of the 'naming & shaming' rule.
So here it is with the name removed - and now it's not a very useful post at all, other then sending a message 'be careful out there'.
I was very nearly scammed out of £1000 by an ebayer. Many many others actually have been.
After the auction for my camera was won, I sensed a problem, and some googling identified multiple TrustPilot, Reddit, and other reviews (even a Change.org petition) all describing how this ebayer had scammed them as a buyer and seller.
This scammer frequently wins auctions and then claims that the item they receive was for something completely different and of a much lower value. They complain to ebay who transfers the money back from the seller, and the buyer gets to keep their money and the genuine item. Similarly, as a seller, they ship items which don't work and then claim they were damaged by the buyer when they are returned.
If nothing is done, many more innocent honest ebayers will also lose £thousands. How will this ever change?

·6 months agoOne piece of advice I will add to your post.
Don't sell expensive items to buyers who have private feedback.
I always want to look at the feedback buyers have received and they have left for others.
If a buyer has 'private' feedback so you can only see their feedback score but not read the comments, for me that is a red flag.
Sellers do have to be careful.

Mentor6 months agoIf too many cases for item not received, or item not as described are opened against a seller, it raises red flags to eBay. They investigate, and that is when they may well pull the items for sale, or ban the seller permanently from selling on their site.
eBay work on cases, they cannot work on messages received no matter how well meaning, as they can be made from competitors or disgruntled buyers.
