Says he refunded me after he cancelled sale but?
Hi, I’ve got a question. I bought a product later in the day, and after the purchase the seller told me he’d made a mistake and was no longer selling it. By that point I had already received tracking information and a delivery date. He then said there had been a mix‑up because his brother had sold the item.
I asked for a refund, and he replied in the chat saying “refunded,” but I haven’t received any money back in my account. The order on eBay still shows as “purchased,” and the tracking information is still active. At the moment, the only indication of a refund is his message in the chat.
Can you explain how the refund process works? Should eBay show some kind of status update or confirmation if a refund has actually been issued?

OP6 months agoThanks for the help, after telling him I was going to contact Ebay, he refunded me within about 10 minutes.

Mentor6 months agoYes, you should have received a message from eBay that *** order is cancelled ,and a refund is being processed.
Otherwise, if this message doesn't appear, one day after the item's last estimated date for delivery open a case for item not received, and escalate on day 4 if not refunded beforehand. eBay step in, and force the refund.
Do not close the case early on any excuse or promise the seller may make, and do not forget to escalate.
