Sales plummeted since National Insurance Request
After years of selling items on eBay i received out of the blue a while back a request for my UK national insurance number. Obviously i submitted this information and just waited for the next stage.
Since then my sales have dropped dramatically month on month. I sell used items mainly footwear and clothes from my personal collection and source other stock from the occasional charity shop and vinted. Before the national insurance request my sales were decent. I know there is a change in law regarding casual selling which will eventually relate to HMRC. I feel the dramatic drop in sales is due to ebay implementing restrictions on my account without informing me or stating what i need to do to lift these restrictions. I need fellow ebayer advice on what to do moving forward.
-Do i contact ebay ?
-Do i contact HMRC?
-Do i stop selling on ebay?
-Do i wait for ebay or HMRC to contact me?
Please can anybody help me as i really don't know what to do moving forward.
thanks

Secondhand clothing and shoes are areas with tens of thousands of listings and sellers, and these are difficult times financially for many people.

You admit to buying from charity shops and vinted to sell on, this means you are a business.
Buyers can wary of unregistered businesses.

I can't see giving NI number will affect anything.
